So here we are again the start of a new season, it doesn’t seem like we had 6 months off. After such a successful season last year (finishing 2nd in class) we start this season with only one place in mind, 1st in class!!!
Our first port of call is Donington Park, which is one of our home circuits. The weather is not so good with the recent downfall of snow but it clears in time for the race meeting. It’s bitterly cold but despite this, all the team support are with us.
Qualification
With a full grid of 35 cars it was hard to find a clear lap, but we managed to get into race mode after the long break and get a third place on the grid in our class.
Race One went pretty well taking second in class. Car felt good and I really like this circuit. New boy to the club, Jeremy Clark (who is also in a 944 all be it a 2.7) was flying and mixing it up with the class two boys. I was never going to catch him so had to settle with 2nd place.
Race Two wasn’t so good having been put on reserve. Although Jeremy had problems with his car and didn’t make the grid, I still didn’t get the chance to race, which was a bit disappointing, especially as I was confident of getting 1st. This left an easy 1st for Sarah Bennett’s Baggs, who is also new to the Porsche Club Championship this season, in a pink 911SC hired from last years winner in our class Neil Harvey, followed closely by Adrian stock to take 2nd place.
Summary
Thanks to all the team for helping to prepare the car for the new season ahead, thanks to Friends and colleges for their support.
So, without a very positive start to the season we look onwards and upwards to Oulton Park. Watch this space!!
